Hurricane Season

There will be weeping in the streets tomorrow and a great gnashing of teeth. Oh the shame of it all! The Carolina Hurricanes
defeated the Edmonton Oilers tonight in the Stanley Cup.
For those not in the know, that's Hockey. Hockey is not just a sport in Canada, it's a religion... no, it's more than that, it's almost a cult. When I arrived in Canada I made the mistake of referring to it as Ice Hockey, only to be met with blank stares and having it politely pointed out that of course it was Ice Hockey... what other sort was there? It's just called Hockey, ok? (And no, in Canada it would not be a grammatical error to spell Hockey with a capital H).
Anyway, the grand finale of the Hockey season - the Stanley Cup - was played out tonight between the Oilers and the Hurricanes. It was the final game of a 7 game series, and it was big! It was fast and exciting and rough, but in the end there can only be one victor, and unfortunately, it was not to be the Canadian team from Edmonton. It's been a while since Canada won the cup - about 13 years - and although the Oilers were a real chance of doing it for Canada, it was not to be tonight. After a really great game, the Hurricanes took it out 3-1.
Bad luck Edmonton... you played well and did your country proud. Maybe next year guys.
