The Long and Winding Road

Just to the north-east of Cottage Country is the vast expanse of untouched nature reserve known as Algonquin Provincial Park, the largest Provincial Park in Ontario. It is home to thousands of lakes as well as native wildlife like bears, beavers and moose. Our track along highway 60 to our next stop, Ottawa, took us right through the southern edge of Algonquin. (We got to see a couple of moose too - one real one, and one not-so-real one!)
It’s a pretty drive, with the actual Park section being only some 43 kilometres long, but quite scenic. We stopped at the roadhouse near Lake with Two Rivers for a quick bite to eat and a short stroll through the forest before continuing on to Ottawa and our amazing accommodation for the night, the Chateau Laurier.
