We was Robbed

Anyone who got to watch the World Cup game between Australia and Italy might also agree that we was robbed, but the “Robbing” to which I refer is a different and much better form of getting “Robbed”.

Our second set of Aussie visitors arrived this week. Our good friends Rob and Robyn - better known simply as The Robs - flew into Pearson airport with their kids Giles, Emily and Andrew after a week in England where Robyn had been attending a conference. It was great to see them, and we’d arranged a week long itinerary to show them a glimpse of “the real Canada” while they were here with us. After a nice dinner at the Niblick, we returned home to get the kids into bed, as they were still operating on London time and it was early morning according to their body clocks.

The next morning saw us picking up their rental car, since there were now nine of us and we couldn’t manage to fit into a single car, and then heading down to Niagara Falls for the day. Oakville is so close to Niagara that it’s an obvious destination to take visitors to the area. We’d just been there the week before with Donna’s brother’s family, but you never really get sick of seeing the water cascade over those huge cliffs, so we certainly don’t mind taking visitors down there to see them. We’ve also had quite different weather conditions each time we’ve been there too, and the Falls take on a slightly different appearance each time.

After detouring through Niagara on the Lake again, we took the scenic cliff drive into Niagara, stopping to see the Whirlpool, which we’d not seen before. On arrival at the actual Falls we did all the usual things - we were getting quite good at being Niagara tour guides by now. We did the Maid of the Mist boat ride again, only with much rougher and wetter conditions than the previous time, and we all got thoroughly soaked.

We arrived back home in Oakville after a full day and had an early night in anticipation of a busy few days coming up.
